Peacock gets the Game 3 start largely because of his consistency after he held his last seven opponents to two or fewer earned runs. The 29-year-old, who began the season in the bullpen, did not yield more than five hits in any of his five starts in September and earned the win in each of the last three. Peacock started at Fenway Park on Sep. 28 and held Boston to two runs on four hits and a walk in five frames. The Astros will pin their hopes on the pitching of right hander Brad Peacock in this game. Peacock has a 13-2 record and a 3.00 ERA this season.

Boston finished second in the AL with a 3.70 ERA this regular season but surrendered eight runs in each of the first two ALDS games in Houston as starters Chris Sale and Drew Pomeranz combined to allowed 11 runs in seven innings and serve up five home runs. “These guys are all coming out swinging and swinging at a lot of stuff, being very aggressive, and every time we’ve made a mistake, they’ve made us pay for it,” Pomeranz told reporters.

Boston was a 8-2 loser in its last match on the road against the Astros. They lost as +163 underdogs, while the total score of 10 made winners of OVER bettors. The Astros were a 8-2 winner in their most recent outing on the road against the Red Sox. That made winners of bettors who got Houston at -173 on the moneyline, while the total score (10) was good news for OVER bettors.

By late Sunday morning, the Twins still hadn’t decided whether one of the most popular members of their squad would travel to New York for Tuesday’s American League wild card playoff game. Miguel Sanó? No, that seemed assured, even with Sanó running half-speed on a sore left shin. But Caballito, the cute brown-and-white stuffed horse infielder Eduardo Escobar keeps in his locker? That needed to be determined. It’s finally October, which means that competition for the Fall Classic is getting underway. Tuesday’s AL Wild Card match-up will feature the Minnesota Twins (85-77) and the New York Yankees (91-71). The Yankees are currently at -245 according to Oddsshark.

Teammates outfitted Caballito with a novelty Twins cap and casual footwear, and Escobar changes the shoes every day. Sunday’s choice: Golf shoes. If the clubhouse energy needs a boost, Dozier leaves it coffee or a Red Bull. In August, someone added a purple Minnesota State Fair ribbon. The Yankees are riding a wave of young talent, headlined by the likes of Aaron Judge and Gary Sanchez. With Aroldis Chapman finally returning to form towards the end of the season, the Yankees seem to have all of the pieces in tow to make a run.

This start will be Severino’s first postseason start, but it’s nothing new for Santana. Santana has pitched in two Wild Card games so far in his career. Severino, however, has been scalding since the All-Star break. He is 9-2 since the break, and although he’ll have his work cut out for him against Minnesota’s veteran ace, the 23-year-old has shown throughout the year that his confidence can carry into late innings and — indeed — the late season.

You can watch the Yankees and Twins from 8 p.m. E.S.T. via ESPN and ESPN Deportes. Those streaming the game can use the Watch ESPN service.

After a first round that Kyle Stanley dominated with a 6-under 64, Round 2 will likely put some separation between the true contenders this week and those who will just collect their bonus money and move on into the offseason. Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas are both two back at 3 under. Thomas started with four pars while Spieth began bogey-par-par but birdied the fourth to move back to 3 under

Jordan Spieth (3 back), Justin Thomas (3 back), Brooks Koepka (2 back) and Dustin Johnson (4 back) all lurk behind Stanley, and Spieth, Thomas and Johnson stand to win the FedEx Cup and $10 million with a win at the Tour Championship at East Lake on Sunday. It should be fascinating to see which of them (if any) makes a move at Stanley and takes hold of the tournament on Friday.

The early groups are off in Round 2, and …. not much cooking so far. Sergio Garcia is 2 under through three to reach 1 over. Otherwise, the players are pretty much stuck in neutral. This hasn’t happened since 2009 when Tiger Woods won the FedExCup and Phil Mickelson won the Tour Championship. It would be a lot less-awkward if the trophies split in 2017 between the likely 24-year-old duo of Spieth and Thomas.

UFC Fight Night 117 Live

UFC Fight Night 117 Live stream. UFC Fight Night 117 Preview: 3 Fights You Can’t Miss from Japan Card

I come before you today not to sell snake oil. UFC Fight Night 117 is not a good card. The card, which happens from the venerated Saitama Super Arena in Japan and airs Friday night in the United States, lost what meager shine it had when headliner Mauricio “Shogun” Rua withdrew because of—and you better sit down—a knee injury. Now aging grinder Yushin Okami, who wasn’t on the UFC roster one day before this call-up, will move up to light heavyweight to face Ovince Saint Preux.

The UFC is in Saitama, Japan for Fight Night. Despite No. 6 Ovince St. Preux’s original opponent, Mauricio “Shogun” Rue’s absence, Yushin “Thunder” Okami has stepped in on short notice to provide an exciting main event. There was also the scary weigh-in incident with Mizuto Hirota, who was deemed medically unfit to compete after looking disoriented on the scale. That means Charles Rosa will not fight. It is assumed he will receive his show money since he did make weight.

Is this card truly a must-watch? It would be disingenuous or just downright strange to say yes. Nevertheless, there are always fights worth watching on any big MMA card. Let’s take a look now at three fights to check out when the action begins on FXX, which you may know as the channel that usually plays The Simpsons on a loop.
