ESPN will pass on showing live player protests during Week 4 of the NFL season. The Disney-owned network told Sporting News it won’t air the playing of the national anthem before Redskins vs. Chiefs on “Monday Night Football. The NFL’s TV partners normally do not show players before the unfurling of the American flag and singing/playing of the national anthem, except before the Super Bowl and other select games. But given viewer interest around players staging demonstrations last week, ESPN, Fox Sports, NBC Sports, CBS Sports, NFL Network and DirecTV all provided live anthem coverage during Week 3.

Washington vies for their second straight dominating prime-time performance against an AFC West opponent on Monday night when they face the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. Washington handed the Oakland Raiders their first loss of the season under the lights on Sunday night, forcing three turnovers and limiting Derek Carr. and Co. to just 128 total yards of offense in a 27-10 rout.

Lowdown: Kansas City’s defense is a known quantity. Washington also made a statement by keeping Oakland in check last week. Linebackers Ryan Kerrigan and Zach Brown are the strengths of a group that now faces Chiefs dual-threat running back Kareem Hunt and playmaking tight end Travis Kelce. Hunt has 538 all-purpose yards, 401 rushing, and six total touchdowns.
