No. 7 Washington (3-0, 0-0 Pac-12) comes into Folsom Field facing their first real test of the season against Colorado (3-0, 0-0 Pac-12). The Buffaloes left Santa Clara dejected at the hands of the Huskies following a 41-10 defeat in last year’s Pac-12 Championship game. After nine months later the performance still frustrates Coach Mike MacIntyre. They beat us pretty good,” the National Coach of the Year told reporters this week.

The Colorado Buffaloes also maintained their perfect record with a 41-21 home win over Northern Colorado Saturday. In that game, the Buffaloes ran for well over 200 yards and passed for more than 350. Against one another, Washington lead the all-time series 9-5-1 with seven straight wins. That also includes a 41-10 tromping in last year’s PAC-12 title game in early December.

Those games needed to be complete performances to prove that CU could be on the same level as the Huskies. They weren’t, and now its clear both sides of the ball are open to exploitation from Jake Browning, Myles Gaskin and the “Death Row” defense. As much as I want to draw parallels between Colorado’s early season struggles and Washington’s game against Rutgers, I know deep down, it’s just not the same.
